Minneapolis College of Art and Design Introduces New Visual Identity and Website

New logo highlights the college’s interdisciplinary curriculum

Minneapolis, MN—The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) today introduced a new website and visual identity. The redesigned logo was created by MCAD DesignWorks Director J. Zachary Keenan. Little & Company, the Minneapolis-based consultancy founded by MCAD alum Monica Little, designed the new website.Together, the changes demonstrate the college’s forward-thinking vision and commitment to attract the best and brightest students.

“By taking calculated risks and pursuing innovative programs over the last hundred years, MCAD has emerged as one of the country’s top art and design colleges,” says President Jay Coogan. “The new website and logo visually distinguish MCAD in the same way that purposeful creativity and interdisciplinary expertise distinguish the work of our alumni, students, faculty, and staff.”

The new logo mark shows two arrows coming together to form an intersection. The Intersection is illustrative of the new MCAD vision statement, “transforming the world through creativity and purpose.” MCAD is a place where creativity meets purpose, and increasingly where the student experience will take place at the intersection of the campus and the world at large. The new mark and logotype was developed in consultation with MCAD’s internal and external audiences. MCAD DesignWorks is the college’s award-winning undergraduate in-house design studio.

Little & Company partnered with The Nerdery to completely overhaul the college’s website. Powered by Drupal, an open-source content management system, the site includes galleries of student work, streamlined undergraduate and graduate-level applications, and a searchable database of continuing education courses. The website design shows the Intersection brand mark as a point of convergence for people, ideas, art, and design.
