From being awarded a grant to landing a major magazine cover, Julie Sirek ’10 has had an exciting year so far and it looks as if her future looks just as bright.
Sirek was awarded a Jerome Fiber Artist Project Grant that will afford her the opportunity to create a memorial to the victims of domestic homicides. The project will culminate in an exhibition at Concordia College in December 2014. She will also document her work daily on Facebook.
A dress of Sirek's that was recently on view at the Society of Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh is on the cover of the April/May issue of American Craft magazine.
Sirek's work will be on display at the Morgan Conservatory's Revive & Renew exhibition in Cleveland, Ohio, and the international Bojagi and Beyond exhibition on Jeju Island, South Korea, in conjunction with the 2014 Korea Bojagi Forum.
