Jodi Reeb Reveals the Beauty of Surface

Jodi Reeb-Transformation

In her new solo exhibition Surface Alchemy, Jodi Reeb ’95 shows us that beauty can indeed be only surface deep. Reeb uses beeswax to create encaustic paintings that focus on rich surfaces of pure form—free of content.

Reeb takes the role of alchemist by blending iron oxide, powdered pigments, and patina finishes into the wax to reveal the play of light and shadow, translucency and opacity.
