Martin Skoro ’77 is celebrating the launch of a book he has been working on for nearly fifteen years: Baba Yaga: The Wild Witch of the East in Russian Fairy Tales.
Baba Yaga is a folk-figure known around the world, but best in her cultural origin of Russia. Now readers can enjoy this first authoritative collection in English of twenty-nine enticing tales of Baba Yaga. Skoro conceived the idea and project managed the creation of the book, engaged three literary scholars to work on it, gathered illustrations—old and new—and art directed the design.
Skoro has partnered with the Museum of Russian Art for the book launch, which is free and open to the public and will take place October 11–13, 2013.
