Sustainable Graphic Designer

By leveraging their visual communications and infographic skills, graphic designers with a sustainability focus help boutique firms and Fortune 500 companies alike to share their sustainability stories through compelling and easy-to-understand graphics. Meet Arlene Birt ’02, MA, who has made a career out of sharing sustainability "background stories" for companies and Craig Johnson ’14, MA, who launched his own sustainability-focused graphic design firm.

Sustainable Product Designer

Industrial designers that have a sustainability focus to their projects, work to solve design challenges throughout the entire life cycle of a product’s life cycle, from materials sourcing to manufacture and distribution, to use and end-of-life. Students in this program have represented companies including Nike, Fender Guitar, Fox Racing, Yakima Racks, Target, and more.

Eco-Fashion Designer

Similar to sustainable product designers, eco-fashion and -jewelry designers are concerned about the social and environmental impacts of their work. Meet entrepreneur and jewelry designer Susan Crow ’09, MA, who launched her own eco-lux jewelry business.
