Remaining required application materials listed below:
A one-page, personal statement of purpose is required. Students are encouraged to address their artistic influences, future goals and aspirations, and relate how the experience in the Pre-College Summer Session would help realize these goals.
Submit official high school transcripts. Please request that transcripts be sent directly to MCAD Continuing Education in a sealed envelope included with your application materials. Please note that transcripts stamped "Issued to Student" are not considered official transcripts. Home-school transcripts are welcome. Please include classes, curriculum, and grades.
One letter of recommendation is required. You may ask an art instructor, guidance counselor, advisor, or employer to write a letter in support of your application. The letter may be sent directly to MCAD Continuing Education or be included with your application.
Scholarship applicants must also supply the following in addition to the above list:
*Please note that scholarship requests are no longer being accepted.
Include ten (10) pieces of your work. Please send digital images of your artwork on a CD or DVD. Do not ship actual artwork. Choose artwork that shows your technical skills as well as your idea development. Any media is acceptable: traditional (painting, drawing, etc.), digital, photo, sequential, or 3D. All the pieces in your portfolio should be finished work that shows completed ideas.
Provide a list of your portfolio pieces including title, date, and medium.
A copy of your previous year's income tax is required as the scholarships available for Pre-College Summer Session are largely need-based scholarships. Please feel at liberty to include an additional personal statement that describes any extenuating circumstance that affects your family’s finances and which is not evidenced by your income taxes.
