Web Development 1: Topics and Projects (Fall 2013)

In this class, students expand on their understanding of HTML and CSS, laying a foundation for more advanced development work.

Students will explore advanced topics, such as: CSS frameworks, emerging web standards, client and server side scripting, mobile development, development tools, and more. Students complete a large project for their portfolio, proceeding from ideation to final web site.

Prerequisite Class: Web Development Basics: CSS.

Web Development 2: JavaScript and jQuery (Fall 2013)

In this class, students will expand on HTML and CSS skills by bringing projects to life with JavaScript and JavaScript libraries.

These languages will be used as the vehicle to add interactive and rich experiences to websites. Additionally, students will explore a variety of content management systems (CMS), learning to customize and manage these platforms. Topics include: fundamental programming concepts, best practices for interactive development, coding for interactive design, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, Wordpress, Drupal, and related technologies.

Web Development: CSS (Summer 2013)

In this class, students learn how to apply style to HTML using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Students will create well-crafted web pages using various CSS selectors and properties, including fonts, colors, divs and spans, layout, and positioning.

This five week online class is a blend of tutorials, readings, development projects, and online discussion. The class is geared toward the beginning to intermediate web developer or designer; students are assumed to have a strong fluency with HTML.

Digital Painting with a Wacom Tablet (Summer 2013)

This class is designed to help artists interested in understanding the tools and methods of painting digitally in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter using Wacom technology.

Discussions and demonstrations of digital best-practices, various stylistic interpretations, customization of brushes and tools, and walkthroughs of each method will be provided. The class will discuss the benefits of painting in these programs, as well as ways to effectively and expertly approach using a tablet within the framework of each program.

Open Edition: Print Seminar (Summer 2013)

This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced printmaker interested in refining their creative and technical skills in a collaborative learning environment. Students may work in screenprinting, relief, intaglio, lithography, monotype, and/or digital printmaking.
