In this class, students will be introduced to designing for web and screen. This includes web-specific design fundamentals, best practices, and review of current web design trends.

From ideation to client review, students will be guided through each step of the design process including ways to find inspiration, wireframing, using design tools, and preparing a design for client review. Students will complete a final web design project and continue building and refining their web portfolio.

In this class, students learn how to apply style to HTML using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Students will create well crafted web pages using various CSS selectors and properties, including fonts, colors, divs and spans, layout, and positioning.

This five week online class is a blend of tutorials, readings, development projects, and online discussion. The class is geared toward the beginning to intermediate web developer or designer; students are assumed to have a strong fluency with HTML.

The photographic medium is seemingly redefined every year. Digital photography has become an inescapable reality in terms of artistic practice and personal documentation. Though the endless streams of technical jargon can be intimidating, the medium remains, at its core, the manipulation of light. This class will focus on the mechanical operations of a Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera, and with those skills, learn how to best formulate projects and assignments for high school students.

Students will learn how to abstract functional strategies from nature to apply to the process of innovative design.

This project-oriented studio class will cover core biological principles, astound students with the wealth of design solutions available in nature, and provide numerous case studies of innovative designs inspired by natural models.

Overall, this class provides powerful metaphors and methods for looking to nature as model, mentor, and measure in our designs. / Open to students ages 18 and above.
