Art Educator Workshop: Mixed Media Collage (Summer 2013)
All Art Educator Workshops
During this class, students will explore different approaches to the concept of collage, from physical processes including found-sources and hand-drawn techniques, to the incorporation of digital processes as a means for manipulation, arrangement, and idea-generation.
Students will be introduced to various process-based techniques as frameworks to explore concepts of abstraction, representation, juxtaposition, context, and repetition. With the art educator in mind, the class aims to provide space for making and improving each student's work, as well as presenting additional perspectives for developing assignment ideas. Class time will be split between presentations on historical and contemporary artists working with collage, demonstrations, independent and collaborative in-class studio exercises, and the opportunity for discussion with other like-minded artists and art educators.
What to bring: Digital camera (optional); 9b graphite stick; pink pearl eraser; 38 x 50” Lenox paper; and scissors.
