Girls Rock: "Honky Tonk Runway" Returns
Art and Design Classes for Kids and Teens
Bringing back one of our most popular classes, this week we’ll explore the powerful women who lived in the Old West, from Native Americans to European pioneers, to artists like Georgia O’Keefe, all while having a blast sculpting and painting our own wildly imaginative faux (spoof) western wear outfits.
What will your honky-tonk fashion statement be? A pair of bright red cowgirl boots adorned with a self-portrait? A purple polka-dotted 10 gallon hat? A western-inspired skirt with the world’s longest fringe?
Using materials and techniques including paints, fun and funky papers, cardboard, foils, paints, collage, papier mâché, and more, you’ll be able bring your Western fashion vision to life!
On Friday afternoon, we’ll share what we’ve made in a fabulously fun mock fashion show! And, as every year, we’ll be thinking, talking, and journaling about issues, thrills, and concerns specific to girls. Don’t forgit yer saddle!
Students must be nine years, and not older than thirteen years of age, on the first day of class. View complete policies here.
