Developing Your Creative Voice and Online Presence (Spring 2014)
Creativity and the Humanities
In this class, students will discover exciting and alternative ways to market their creative ideas and expand beyond their own creative practice to one that involves their community, their peers, and the global creative voice.
In today's technologically-enhanced world, we're able to easily move outside our traditional, localized boundaries. Those with creative practices, in particular, are better able to grow and develop by engaging in dialogues about concept and collaboration with global communities.
Through a combination of discussion, analysis, creative workshops and participation, and easy-to-use tools and resources, students will be challenged to find interactive ways of expanding their practice in order to strengthen their creative presence locally and globally. The workshop consists of four intensive sections: Creative blogging and social media; podcasting and vlogging; online creative projects; and community building. In each section, students will explore and discuss the potential of each tool or strategy. / Facilities fee of $20 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above.
Prerequisites: Working knowledge of the internet, beginner level of technical know-how; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop.
What to Bring: Notebook or sketchbook, minimal sketching materials; and a 2GB portable hard drive (or larger).
