HTML5 (Fall 2014)

Design and Digital Media

HTML5 is a modern markup language for a modern internet—the newest version of HyperText Markup Language that developers are using to take advantage of the expansive technologies modern web browsers and devices have to offer. This class will get new and beginning developers oriented in this new coding paradigm, and help get long time developers up to speed on all the changes that HTML5 has brought about in the web development world.

It will acclimate users to the advantages of working with the fifth version of HTML and will provide them with the skills and information they need to implement these ideas into their design and development practice.

With a strong focus on the new semantic and media tags found in HTML5, as well its exciting new APIs, (such as the canvas element, offline web applications and drag‐and‐drop) and integration with CSS and JavaScript, the lectures and activities in this class will help students acclimate themselves to all the technologies HTML5 has to offer.
