Introduction to Web Design (Fall 2014)
Design and Digital Media
In this class, students will be introduced to basic web design principles with the objective of building a well-performing site using online tools and resources.
Topics of this class will include the basics of information architecture; graphic design and typographical principles for the web; image preparation; Content Management System (CMS) use and customization (i.e. Squarespace); user-experience design and accessibility; usability testing; search engine optimization; and professional/personal networking and promotion.

This class will not involve extensive coding, but students will be introduced to some basic concepts of HTML and CSS. Time permitting, the class may build a site as part of a collaborative class project. / Each student will have access throughout the class to a lab workstation equipped with the latest software. / Facilities fee of $40 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above.

If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met. UPDATE: This class has been cancelled due to low enrollment.
