Printmaking Intensive in Grand Marais: Seeing Possibilities (Spring 2014)
Would you like a dedicated time to create and think about your creative work, engage in stimulating discussions, and refresh your outlook on your own work processes? This workshop is aimed primarily at painters and printmakers who want to explore new possibilities and directions for their work and have fun while doing so.
This 4-day intensive printmaking workshop at the Art Colony in beautiful Grand Marais will consist of demonstrations, class and individual discussions, and ample dedicated work time. Students will start out working in monotypes—a “painterly” printmaking process—before moving on to relief printmaking using linoleum blocks. Experienced printmakers are also welcome to work in a process of their choosing. Students will leave the class with a small body of work and with new insight into their own creative processes. Inks, some basic tools, and papers will be provided. / Facilities fee of $50 and materials fee of $40 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above.
What to Bring: Mounted linoleum blocks for relief printing. Students are welcome to bring additional tools or papers if desired. If experienced students would like to work in intaglio, they should also bring the requisite supplies
