Bronze Casting (Fall 2014)

This class serves as an introduction to ceramic shell bronze casting. Studio time will be supplemented by hands-on demonstrations of mold-making (plaster and rubber molds), wax-working and spruing, and gating. Students will have the opportunity to participate in two bronze pours and cast pieces of their own creation. Additional techniques that will be addressed include chasing, casting repair, and patination.

Students should expect additional costs for personal safety equipment and materials for their own projects. These costs can vary widely for students, depending on the scope of their individual projects and can range from $100 to $600. / Facilities fee of $50 and materials fee of $75 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above.
