Open Edition: Printmaking Seminar (Fall 2014)

Fine Arts

If you love printmaking, you’ll love this class. It offers intermediate and advanced printmakers the chance to work in an open and collaborative learning community with instruction from a skilled printmaker, while using some of the best printmaking facilities in the Midwest.

Selected demonstrations are offered along with individual tutorials, as needed. Sessions will also include informal dialogues, large and small group critiques, and studio time. The learning environment is collaborative and relaxed.

Experienced students may work in screenprinting, intaglio, relief, letterpress, and/or digital printmaking. Students may work in the printshop outside of class time during regular hours and when other classes are not in session. / Facilities fee of $88 and materials fee of $10 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above. Fall 2014 print studio hours: Mon-Sat, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m..

Prerequisites: The class is restricted to intermediate and advanced printmakers only. No beginning instruction will be offered. Introduction to printmaking or experience and aptitude in lithography, intaglio, relief, and/or screen printing also required.

What to Bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or paper; combination lock for locker. If students plan on doing printmaking work the first night of class, they should also bring the supplies they need for their chosen medium. / Students should anticipate additional costs for materials based on the scope of their individual projects. / A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.
