Fashion Illustration differs from fashion design in that it is more about conveying a mood or expression of a garment rather than about the actual creation and structure of the piece. In this class, students will begin to learn and understand ways of rendering fashion through the study of various methods of drawing and painting, including drawing from the live model. Students will examine and develop the ability to render the figure as well as the fabrics that adorn. They will also experiment with traditional and contemporary techniques while developing their own visual language in terms of style and concept. This class will also cover the application of illustration in the fashion business and will address industry vocabulary. / Materials fee of $5 in addition to tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook; tracing paper pad at least 9 x 12. A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.

Prerequisite: Previous drawing and painting experience helpful, but not required. Working knowledge of Mac OS X.
