Join us for a super fun week as we play with ideas about fashion, expressing ourselves, and our ideas of what’s interesting, cool, strange or stylish. We’ll make artistic outfits–complete with outrageous sculptural headpieces, hats, and wigs using cardboard, paper, paints, and found objects. Instead of fabric, we’ll be creating with our own hand-painted paper, chock-full of our own colorful patterns.

Do you love a great hiding place or a space from which you peek out and spy? Ever climb a tree or climb into a tree house? This week we will learn the basics of sculpture and assemblage, using scrap wood, wood turnings, cardboard, wire, string, and dowels. We will focus on investigating architectural tradition and thinking about how to incorporate those traditions into our own creations. We’ll make our own miniature tree houses—as rich and complex as our imaginations allow, while making table-top sized sculpture. What will yours look like?

We will create our art from found wood, learn some basic wood tool use, and embellish using acrylic paint and other media.
