Fine Arts

Making monotypes is work that’s so engaging it feels like play. In this class students learn how to combine printmaking processes with the spontaneity of collage, painting and drawing to create surprisingly vivid and inventive imagery.  Participants create images on plexiglass using ink, stencils, found objects and whatever comes to hand. Using the printing presses the students transfer their images onto paper, modify the original images and print them again. The prints are one-of-a-kind but the process builds on itself and reveals more and more possibilities.  This class is perfect for beginners or for artists experienced in any medium who need play time to refresh their vision and generate new ideas. / Materials fee of $25 and facilities fee of $30 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook; any interesting leaves or flowers that students might like to work with; paper stencils. Basic paper will be provided, but feel free to bring any interesting paper you’d like to experiment with.

What to Wear: Closed-toe shoes; clothes that can get inky; an apron or a smock if desired. Long hair should be pulled back.
