Adobe Photoshop for Photographers (Spring 2014)
Photography and FilmmakingRegister soon. Only 4 spots remain.
This class has been rescheduled to March 15 and 16.
Do you enjoy taking digital photographs, but would benefit from learning how to enhance them in order to achieve a truly eye-catching version of your image? Or, would you love to preserve your old photographs while also improving their quality?
This class will teach digital photographers who have little or no previous experience in Adobe Photoshop how to use this powerful software to improve photos or scans of older images quickly and easily. The four primary uses of Photoshop on a professional level will be taught: Changing the dynamic range of a photo; color correction; retouching; and sharpening. Students will then learn how to use some of Photoshop's most vital filtering options such as corrective filtering, lens correction, and noise reduction.
Expanding upon these skills, students will move on to more advanced techniques such as the creation of adjustment layers, layer masks, and clipping paths for non-destructive editing. For the serious photographer, knowledge of these elements is key to manipulating images.
Because the majority of images are now posted on the web, students will also learn how to correctly optimize and save images for viewing through web browsers, smartphones, and tablets. / Each student will have access throughout the class to a lab workstation equipped with the latest software. / Facilities fee of $20 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above.
Prerequisites: Working knowledge of Mac OS X.
What to Bring: A blank CD-R disc or USB drive if you wish to copy class demo files and/or your work; notebook; pen or pencil; folder for handouts. Note: The latest version of this program is Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Photoshop version 13) released in 2012. We will be using version CS6. Those using these earlier versions of Photoshop will notice some differences compared to the Photoshop CS6 program used in class.
/ Register on or before Jan 20 and receive $25 off total tuition.
