Introduction to Photography (Spring 2014)
Photography and Filmmaking
There is something about developing negatives and prints in the darkroom, and being a part of the creative process of the physical object, that will never be replaced by digital photography. In this introductory class, students will learn the photographic process from start to finish.
Students will be introduced to the necessary skills that allow them to best utilize their cameras, and will then be able to develop their own film in the MCAD Darkroom, print contact sheets and enlargements, and master other technical procedures. Shooting assignments will encourage students to put into practice new methods and approaches that will then be explored by way of group critiques. Each student will benefit from this collaboration, while also learning from slide lectures that will contribute to a more in-depth understanding of photography's history and creative power.
This class has been canceled due to low enrollment. We encourage students to register as soon as possible for future classes.
