Portfolio Preparation: Intensive Drawing Workshop (Fall 2014)
Pre-College Portfolio Preparation Ages 15-18
This intensive drawing workshop is designed to help motivated high school students, adults, and transfer visual arts students develop exemplary drawings for their portfolios.
Students will work with still life and figurative subject matter as they explore the fundamentals of a good drawing: Composition; structure; value; line; and expression. In addition, students will gain knowledge of a larger "art vocabulary" for critique and discussion.
Studio instruction will be supplemented by tips on how to compile an outstanding and professional portfolio, presented by members of the MCAD Admissions staff. Professional nude models may be used in this workshop. This class is open to high school students, adults, and transfer students from two- and four-year colleges. / Previous drawing experience helpful, but not required. / Materials fee of $20 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above.
What to Bring: 18 x 24" pad of newsprint drawing paper; drawing board; variety of drawing pencils; pencil sharpener; eraser; vine charcoal; small notepad or notebook; and sketchbook.
