This course pushes the envelope of painting in oils, through the introduction of immediacy to the process. Students will complete a variety of quick exercises or studies, some of which may result in finished work. Experimentation through quick studies is a markedly different process than working over extended periods of time. This course will help students to hone their process, sharpen their skills, and utilize intuition and expressive voice. During the course, students will explore varied subject matter, as well as experiment with color and lighting conditions- all within limited time. / Open to students ages 16 and above.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. Oil paints: yellow ochre; naples yellow; cadmium yellow; cadmium red; alizarin crimson; ultramarine blue; cerulean blue; titanium white; burnt sienna; Weber Odorless Turpenoid; Liquin Original, 75 ml; paper palette pad; lidded small glass jar; paper towels; small flat and filbert brushes; 1 medium flat brush. A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.
