Portfolio Preparation: Drawing For High School Students 02
Summer Pre-College Classes Ages 15-18
This studio drawing class is designed to help motivated visual arts students develop exemplary observational drawings for their portfolios.
The portfolio is the single most important component of an art school application, and colleges across the nation are stepping up their requirements for admission. Most require several observational drawings, or drawings made from what we see, rather than from our imagination or a photograph.
Students will work with still life, landscape, interior, and figurative subject matter as they explore the fundamentals of a good drawing: Composition; structure; value; line; and expression. Studio instruction will be supplemented by art history discussions, visiting artist and MCAD Admissions staff presentations, and regular homework assignments. / Professional nude models will be used in this class. / Both this July class (Portfolio Preparation 02) and the June class (Portfolio Preparation 01) are the same class. Choose the section that best fits your schedule.
Students successfully completing either section of our Portfolio Preparation 01 or 02 classes will also receive an application fee waiver for their MCAD undergraduate program, valued at $50.00.
Follow up this class with the next in our Portfolio Preparation Summer Series: Portfolio Plus: Expanding the Creative Portfolio, August 4-8.
