Mythical Menagerie: AM Section (Summer 2013)
Summer Studio Kids Ages 5-8
Fairies, unicorns, sea monsters, mermaids, dragons, and fantasy fauna not yet discovered will be the focus of this fun class!
Students will exercise their amazing imaginations while they draw, paint, and sculpt imaginary creatures. For inspiration, we'll take a mini field trip to see artworks featuring dragons and other mythical beasts at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. We'll focus on effectively using texture (both visual and actual), color, and form to make our fantasy creatures seem real. The week will culminate in an artful display of our zany zoo for families to visit and celebrate the creations of these young artists.
For students to get the most from these classes, it's important for them to have experience using scissors, possess tactile skills, and to also have experience in a group setting. Students in this program must be at least five years of age, and have attended kindergarten, prior to the first day of their session.
Morning before-care (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and afternoon after-care (3:00-5:30 p.m.) arranged through the Children's Theatre Company is available to students enrolled in a Studio Kids class. To register, visit the CTC website and click on the "Extended Care Option" tab. Please register in advance of the start of your child's class.
Note: An MCAD Teaching Assistant will escort your child to and from the CTC in between classes and before/after care. Questions about payment, registration, and cancelation can be directed to the CTC.
