Self-Made Superhero!: AM Section (Summer 2013)

Summer Studio Kids Ages 5-8

Able to create! Strong enough to imagine! Powerful visual storyteller! In this class, young artists will be taken step-by-step towards developing their superhero identity.

Students will create costumes including masks, goggles, helmets, capes, and more. Then, they will create digital photo alteration collage and mini comics that feature none other than their super-selves! They'll learn penciling and inking basics, effective use of color, idea generation techniques, character development methods, using symbols, storyboarding, and ways to add emotion to drawings and stories. The week includes a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts where students can gather ideas for characters and storylines. At the end of the week, all families will be invited to a "publishing party" complete with super-artist autograph signing!

Students in this program must be at least five years of age, and have attended kindergarten, prior to the first day of their session.

Morning before-care (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and afternoon after-care (3:00-5:30 p.m.) arranged through the Children's Theatre Company is available to students enrolled in a Studio Kids class.
