Cabinet of Curiosities: Creating a Collection of Small Treasures (Summer 2013)
Summer Studio Kids Ages 8-11
Before there were museums, a few fortunate people collected treasures from nature, historical artifacts, and art objects for their own amusement. Construct a compartmental chest and fill it with treasures that you create!
Build a collection of exotic butterflies, artifacts from a favorite or imagined place, souvenirs from outer space, or animals from around the globe! We'll look at many cool examples of cabinets of curiosities from the past and contemporary artists' versions. We'll use a variety of materials, such as wood, paints, papers, found objects, wire, cardboard, and much more. Imagination and construction rule this week!
On Wednesday, we'll create our own museum and share our personal curiosities with our friends and family!
Students in this camp must be at least 8 years of age, and no older than 11 years of age, the date of the first class meeting. View our complete policies here.
Please note: No before or after-care will be offered through the Children's Theatre for this week's classes.
