Fabulous Forts and Secret Spaces: A Kid-Sized Installation You Can Get Into! (Summer 2013)

Summer Studio Kids Ages 8-11

This week we'll have a blast transforming our studio into a warren of kid-sized forts and secret spaces we create–complete with doors, windows, wild sculptural elements, and perhaps a tunnel or secret compartment or two!

A variety of building techniques will be explored, such as panel and plane structures, rods and connectors, and bricks and blocks. For materials, we'll be using recycled boxes, cardboard, fabric, yarn, branches, and more! Our inspiration will be outsider artist environments such as the amazing Watts Towers in Los Angeles created by Simon Rodia. These forts will go waaaay beyond refrigerator boxes! Parents, we can't wait to invite you inside during our Friday exhibition!

Students in this camp must be at least 8 years of age, and no older than 11 years of age, the date of the first class meeting. View our complete policies here.

Morning before-care (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and afternoon after-care (3:00-5:30 p.m.) arranged through the Children's Theatre Company is available to students enrolled in a Studio Kids class.
