A Passion for Painting! From the Teeny Weeny to the GigANTIC! (Summer 2013)
Summer Studio Kids Ages 8-11
Do you love to paint and love the excitement of discovering intriguing new colors? Join us this week as we experience the wonder and power of color through painting.
We'll start off making teeny-weeny paintings you can hold in your palm (inspired by Persian miniatures) and then move to GIGANTIC juicy paintings on paper, exploring some of our own images and personal symbols. For help along the way, we'll look to incredible colorists like painters Emily Carr, Vincent Van Gogh, and Sonia Delaunay, as well as to awe-inspiring nature. Time permitting, we may even make paintings on our own faces (using non-toxic face paint). Will you transform your face into an ocean complete with mermaid, a busy amusement park, or a surreal skyline?
Throughout the week, the important basics of drawing, painting, and color-mixing will be taught, culminating in a colorful display of painted expression during our Friday family exhibition.!
Students in this camp must be at least 8 years of age, and no older than 11 years of age, the date of the first class meeting. View our complete policies here.
