Getting Art-SEA! AM
Summer Studio Kids Camps Ages 5-8
Artists, don your swim goggles and flippers, and get ready to dive into this week’s theme: Under the Sea! Students will explore the many strange and wonderful sea creatures and plants that live in the salty depths before constructing their own magical aquatic creations.
The week will include a visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts to look at and discuss other art works featuring sea creatures and scenes of the ocean depths. We’ll also look at the mixed media mobiles of Alexander Calder and the glass sculpture installations of Dale Chihuly for inspiration.
Students will use clay, wire, beads, tissue paper, cardboard, cellophane, paint, and more to create 2D and 3D works that will be incorporated into a breath-taking collaborative installation. Families will be invited to float through the artistic presentation during a celebration on the last day of class.
Students must be at least five years of age, and have attended kindergarten, prior to the first day of their class. View complete policies here.
Morning before-care (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and afternoon after-care (3:00-5:30 p.m.) arranged through the Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) are available to students enrolled in an MCAD class.
