Summer Studio Kids Camps Ages 5-8

What child isn’t fascinated by the imaginary world inhabiting an intricate dollhouse? Or, by miniature space environments populated by superhero figurines? 

This week is designed just for budding furniture makers and interior designers—boys and girls alike. Students will creatively combine art materials and found objects such as shoe boxes, wrapping paper, bottle caps, wooden blocks, and fabric scraps to create their own miniature dwelling along with its furniture and decor.

Projects will engage students’ skills in 3D construction, creating texture and pattern, as will exercise their imaginations! The week includes a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts where students can gather ideas from viewing miniatures, furniture designs, and model buildings at the museum.

At the end of the week, all families will be invited to an “Open House” to celebrate the fanciful architecture and interiors created by our young artists.

Students must be at least five years of age, and have attended kindergarten, prior to the first day of their class. View complete policies here.

Morning before-care (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and afternoon after-care (3:00-5:30 p.m.) arranged through the Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) are available to students enrolled in an MCAD class. Spend the entire day on our shared campus and register your child for a theater class at the CTC and a visual arts class at MCAD! Note: An MCAD Teaching Assistant will escort your child to and from the CTC in between classes. Questions about payment, registration, and cancellation can be directed to the CTC.
