Out of the Frame: Funky 3D Paintings
Summer Studio Kids Camps Ages 8-11
What’s that, you say? Artwork that pops out of the wall? Yes! This week, we’ll explore painting, drawing, and relief sculpture techniques in an exciting class focused on making three-dimensional art pieces.
We’ll use found objects, paint, cardboard, and copper embossing techniques to create artworks with shapes and colors that convey feelings and emotions. We’ll explore the work of artists such as Jean Arp, Frank Stella, and even local MCAD alumnus, Gregory Euclide, who make artworks that blur the line between painting and sculpture.
We’ll also take a mini-field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts to view artwork that reaches beyond the walls, and think about ways we can take what we see and use it in our own creations.
The week will culminate in a fun exhibition and opportunity for families to admire and celebrate fun and funky work.
Students must be eight years, and not older than eleven years of age, on the first day of class. View complete policies here.
