A Week in the Amazon! Creating a Kid-Sized Jungle Environment
Summer Studio Kids Camps Ages 8-11
Pack your rain gear. We’re off to the Amazon! Join us for a super week investigating and making art about the amazing array of mammals, birds, insects, and reptiles that live in the Amazon.
We’ll create a giant, kid-sized jungle environment, complete with lush sculpted and painted trees, vines, and animals—both friendly and ferocious! What jungle creatures would you bring to life in our studio: a Blue Morpho butterfly, a lighting-fast jaguar, or a deadly giant anaconda? Maybe we’ll consider some Amazon Pink River Dolphins (yes, pink!) or some tiny jewel-like Poison Dart Frogs!
We’ll also learn about the people of the Amazon, and how each of us can help to preserve this region, which contains the largest collection of living plants and animal species in the world.
Friday afternoon, we’ll give a special jungle “tour” to family and friends and celebrate all we’ve made and learned. Special Note: Each child will get to take home the animal(s) they make!
Students must be eight years, and not older than eleven years of age, on the first day of class. View complete policies here.
Morning before-care (8:00-9:00 a.m.) and afternoon after-care (3:00-5:30 p.m.) arranged through the Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) are available to students enrolled in an MCAD class. Note: An MCAD Teaching Assistant will escort your child to and from the CTC in between classes. Questions about payment, registration, and cancellation can be directed to the CTC.
