Introduction to Printmaking for Teens (Summer 2013)
Summer Young Teens Ages 11-14
Artists have been using printmaking processes to create beautiful works of art for centuries. You don’t have to be a master printer to follow in their footsteps—our professional printshop is open for exploration this summer.
This class will introduce young teens with little or no experience to the expansive world of printmaking techniques. Whether you are a first-time printmaker or already have some printmaking skills, this class will inspire and inform you.
Students will have the chance to learn woodblock, embossment, collagraph, and monoprint techniques, and work one-on-one with the instructor. There will also be time during class for the instructor to assist students with their individual project ideas. Non-toxic waterbased inks will be used.
What to bring to the first class: a sketchbook and pencil with your own drawings/doodles/ideas for prints you want to make. / Materials fee will cover the bulk purchase of most supplies needed throughout the course. / A complete list of all suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.
Please note: There will be an open house on the last day of class for families to come and view finished prints and tour the Printshop.
Students in this class must be at least 11 years of age, and no older than 14 years of age, the date of the first class meeting. View our complete policies here.
