Teen Photo (Summer 2013)

Summer Young Teens Ages 11-14

In this class, students will examine the technical and artistic aspects of traditional photography and be introduced to the tools and techniques of analog black-and-white photography.

Technical lectures and demonstrations will cover 35mm camera operation, film processing, and black-and-white darkroom printing. Camera operations that will be covered include aperture, shutter speed, film speed, depth-of field, movement, and light meters. By merging technique with artistic consideration, students will produce prints that prepare them to pursue additional classwork in high school or college. / This is a black and white class; color facilities will not be used. / Facilities fee of $50 in addition to class tuition.

What to bring: A 35mm manually adjustable camera is required. / A complete list of suggested materials list will be discussed during the first class meeting. / Students will spend approximately $100 on supplies (not included in tuition).
