This bootcamp is open to students pursuing graphic design, professionals looking to fine-tune their skills, or hobbyists with a passion for type. In this course, we will explore how typography is used to communicate effectively within the field of graphic design. While building a basic vocabulary of terms and processes, students will exercise different topics ranging from formal usage to typography as art. The primary focus of the course will be creating individual projects through both experimental, analog materials and computer-based typesetting. The class will also cover historical context and contemporary usage of typography through lectures, videos, and discussions. / Open to students ages 16 and above.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.

Prerequisite: Working knowledge of Mac OS X. Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud helpful, but not required.
