Provides planning, setup, operational management, security, and documentation for the college’s school-wide Windows hardware and software infrastructure.  Manages the MCAD’s Google Apps for Education infrastructure.


Primary Windows Administrator:

Primary Windows Build Administrator:

  • Microsoft SCCM build administration
  • Windows client hardware purchasing and maintenance
  • Security
  • Other specialized builds and software installation as required

Primary Google Apps Administrator:

  • Google Apps for Education domain administration
  • Google Groups administration
  • Other services, as enabled

Primary Backup Administrator:

  • Retrospect Administration
  • Backup compliance and facilitation

Secondary Duties:

  • Backup support for all Windows software applications
  • Backup support for Citrix XenServer infrastructure

Common Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Manage third-party support vendors
  • On-Call (primary and secondary) for responding to and resolving issues occurring outside of business hours
  • Write and maintain MCAD IT documentation
  • Project management
  • Desktop support and departmental technical service requests
  • Basic hardware maintenance, which requires some lifting
  • Department cross-training and coordination
  • Oversee and advise MCAD community regarding technology data structures, policies, standards, procedures, methodology, etc.
  • Other projects as assigned by supervisor.


Education: BS in MIS, or equivalent technical experience.

Experience: Three years work experience in Active Directory management as well as administration of Windows-based information systems and client workstations, preferably in an educational environment. Comprehensive and documented knowledge of the Windows operating system (Server 2008 R2/Windows 7 and up), Windows Firewall, ODBC, User Account Control, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL server, and Active Directory. Some experience with the following is preferred: enterprise virtualization technologies (eg., XenServer), directory servers (eg., LDAP), Google Apps for Education administration, multi-server backup applications (eg., Retrospect), and programming languages (eg., PowerShell, Batch).

Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals. Facility in identifying, prioritizing and solving problems within a deadline. Ability to work effectively in a team. Detail-oriented and self-starter. Active sense of humor preferred.

Additional Requirements: On-call for responding to and resolving issues occurring outside of business hours.
