Feed your Future: Alumni Mentor Lunch Series 2/24

Archived Event:
Monday, February 24, 2014
12:10 p.m.
Room 414

This event is a tremendous opportunity for students to come together in a small group setting and ask questions of an alum about his or her journey into the world after leaving MCAD. The focus of the series is to learn from each other and to be a part of a bigger conversation about art and design.

The series takes place from 12:10–12:50 p.m. in Room 414 on the following dates:

  • February 3
  • February 10
  • February 17
  • February 24

Lunch will be provided.

Space is limited, so register in advance with Joan Olson at jolson@mcad.edu.

February 17 Alumni Host: Emily Taylor

Emily Taylor ’00 got her first computer at the tender age of five, and—save for a six month stint off the grid in rural Ireland in an MCAD study abroad program—hasn't disconnected since. She spends much of her time fussing about good design, thoughtful social media, or quick-commands and shortcuts on the multitude of Apple devices she's addicted to while avoiding doing the dishes.

Taylor studied media and film/photography at MCAD and has served as vice president of the MCAD Alumni Association Board of Directors. Her work at a variety of arts and non-profit organizations has focused on content creation, social media, art direction, project management, events, advertising and photography.

At this alumni lunch, Taylor will talk about her winding path to becoming a communications director at Artspace Projects; including her stint in New York's advertising field, working art events at the Walker Art Center, advising small local arts organizations, and planning art education programs for youth of all ages. Taylor will share her MCAD experience and cross-overs she found helpful in the professional arts non-profit sector.

Her hope is that online conversations lead to in-person conversations, and that we all go outside and play more.
