Genie Castro

Castro received her degree in Fine Art and Fashion Design from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Castro completed a one-year accelerated study program at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. While working as a designer in New York’s garment industry, she studied painting at The Art Students League under the renowned painter Hananiah Harari. Her involvement with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts has spanned more than a decade through Art Adventure and Art Perchance. She coordinates The Annual Willow River Elementary Music and Art Show in her hometown of Hudson, Wisconsin. Castro’s Abstract Monotypes have hung in various shows with Damien Hirst, Donald Sultan, Frank Stella and Andy Warhol through Douglas Flanders and Associates Gallery in Minneapolis. Her work is represented by Milward Farrell Gallery in Madison. Her art is featured at Tahari Shoes in Chelsea in New York. (BS/University of Wisconsin–Madison)
