John Teschner has coached high school basketball on the Kenyan savanna. He has written award-winning stories on education, murder, and catastrophic flooding as a newspaper reporter in Northern Virginia. And he has trained undergraduate creative-writing students to teach at-risk middle schoolers in Georgia. In addition to teaching at MCAD, he is currently a grant writer at AchieveMpls, the nonprofit partner of the Minneapolis Public Schools. Teschner holds a BA in English literature from the University of Virginia and an MFA in creative writing from Georgia College. He is working on a collection of short stories and writing Concrete Jungle, a monthly column of essays for the online journal Trop.
