Kris Belden-Adams received her PhD in modern and contemporary art history with a specialization in the history of photography from the City University of New York Graduate Center. She also has an MA in art history, theory, and criticism with a concentration in contemporary art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her scholarly work on the history of photography and visual culture has been published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism, The International Journal of Technology, Knowledge and Society and Cabinet.

Belden-Adams was voted the Faculty Member We Would Most Like to Play Bingo With by the student body of the Kansas City Art Institute. She joined the liberal arts faculty at MCAD in the fall of 2011.
