Mary is an educator, an artist, and a writer whose recent research has focused on the lives of women from the Lake Superior region. She earned a BS in education and an MA in studio art, and she has completed post-graduate work at Hamline University and the University of Minnesota. She has exhibited her studio work regionally and nationally. She has taught in the Liberal Arts Department at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design for more than twenty years.
