Tom Garrett has been teaching since 1986. He has contributed to Educating the Illustrator and Teaching Illustration, published by Allworth Press, as well as How to Grow as an Illustrator, Exploring Illustration, and Drawing Inspiration: Visual Artists at Work by Michael Fleishman. Garrett is on the advisory board of the Creative Quarterly and has been a member of the Society of Los Angeles since 1996.
Garrett's work has been recognized in Communication Arts, Print, the New York Art Director’s Club, and American Illustration. His illustrations have been published in U.S. News & World Report, Business Week, National Journal, the Washington Post, Fortune, TV Guide, the Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, Good Housekeeping, and National Geographic Traveler. His long list of clients includes Mattel, Geico, Warner Brothers, HBO, American Airlines, Pillsbury, Stanford University, and IBM.
