The bachelor of fine arts degree was first established at MCAD in 1951. Until that time, graduating students received a certificate for the successful completion of requirements.
To culminate the celebration of MCAD's 125th anniversary, BFA degrees were awarded to alumni who had previously earned a certificate. Thirty-six alumni and their families attended this special event.
Janet Groenert ’79, chair of the alumni board, led the proceedings, followed by remarks from President Jay Coogan and the vice president of academic affairs, Karen Wirth.
