Experience MCAD Day Fall 2017

This fall, MCAD welcomed prospective students and their families to tour the college's facilities, peek inside on-campus student apartments, and talk with current students about the programs they're interested in.

The day began with a gathering in Auditorium 150 where attendees watched presentations by admissions counselors, department chairs, and current students. Following the individual presentations, a handful of MCAD representatives, including current students and department chairs, gathered at the front of the auditorium to answer questions from prospective students and parents in attendance—which ranged from questions about the programs, to housing, food, and how much homework to expect.

After the presentations and Q&A, attendees broke into smaller groups for campus tours, which covered the Black and Gray Photo Studios in M/LAB, the photography dark room, the 3D Shopon-campus student studios, and more. The tour also included the brand-new facilities that were just constructed over the summer thanks to the NEXT/NOW capital campaign, which raised nearly $24 million for scholarships, academic facilities, and academic programs. In fact, on this same Saturday, the college was hosting a big public celebration as a way of showing gratitude, sharing art, and embracing the spirit of community that made it all possible, that Experience MCAD attendees were encouraged to attend afterwards.

The final portion of Experience MCAD Day was dedicated to three workshops for the tour groups to attend. Prospective students could choose to visit the animation studio where they got a mini lesson and created a cool GIF, the 3D Shop where they got to explore using some of the equipment and took home 3D-printed keychains, or the print shop where they got to make their own Experience MCAD Day posters using a letterpress.
