President Coogan and Kickstarter cofounder speak with MCAD alumni, parents
Yancey Strickler, cofounder of Kickstarter, recently joined President Coogan for a nationwide conference call with MCAD alumni and parents. Kickstarter is one of the world's leading funding platforms for creative projects.
Coogan and Strickler took questions and discussed creative entrepreneurship.
Following the phone conversation, Yancey spoke to MCAD students—his first, ever, talk at a college or university—and then closed the day out with a special reception and public talk at the Walker Art Center.
What were the results of the call?
More than 1,000 alumni and parents of MCAD students participated in the call. The college has received more than a dozen comments and emails from participants who said they enjoyed the conversation. People participated from locations throughout the country. [see map]
MCAD was one of the first colleges nationwide to receive a curated Kickstarter page.
We would like to be able to invite you to participate in future conversations both with President Coogan as well as any special guests.
This time, you may not have received a call for one of many reasons:
- We may not have a correct phone number for you.
- Staff and faculty were not called unless they were also an alum or a parent of a student.
- The telecom system may simply have not been able to correctly route the call—we expect these imperfections will be resolved as the technology matures.
