Former MCAD student Ta-coumba Aiken has been chosen to create the Minnesota State Fair's commemorative art piece this year.

Aiken tells GoMn, “I love the Minnesota State Fair, and it is an honor to create the 2017 commemorative artwork. My interpretation will show the fair’s harmony and chaos at the same time. I believe the fair is an adventure to discover just ‘one more thing,’ and the piece will allow the viewer to notice many different things each time.”

MCAD artists Emily Taylor, Joe Heffron, Nancy Carlson, and Mary GrandPré have had the honor of creating the fair's commemorative artwork in past years.

Update 6/9: Star Tribune released an image of Aiken's art for the Minnesota State Fair.
