Tom Arndt ’68 recently showed his photo series Where I Live at the Howard Greenburg Gallery.

Where I Live features over thirty-five photographs taken from 2015 to 2016 that capture the character of Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. Arndt portrays everyday citizens in local places like coffee shops and state fairs. He enjoys photographing traditional American events including Memorial Day celebrations, demolition derbies, and an Indian Days event by the Blackfeet Indians of Browning, Montana. Every scene represents humanity in day-to-day life.

“Tom Arndt’s pictures are as plainspoken and humane as the people in the photographs. They speak to an ideal of modesty and fairness, of beauty in common things. They are a reminder of who we were and what we can still be,” —Sandra S. Phillips, Curator Emerita of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
