Gutierrez-Bolger and her piece Memory Dresses

The Southwest Journal article "Island to Tundra" focuses on Cuban-born artist Carmen Gutierrez-Bolger and her experience finding her identity, artmaking, and living in a new country.

Gutierrez-Bolger took art classes at MCAD and realized that making art based on her refugee background could help those who are currently in the same situation. As a result she has created Memory Dresses, translucent human-sized paper doll dresses that reflect her changing identity.
