Faculty member Paula McCartney often uses her photography to explore the line of what is real and what is fabricated. In her newest exhibition, she uses this technique to create a spoof of scientific journals.

In Bird Watching, rather than waiting for birds to come to her, McCartney brings craft store birds into natural landscapes to create the exact composition and fantasy that she wants with every photograph. Each photograph is accompanied by a humorous caption.

McCartney was also awarded a 2017 Minnesota State Arts Board Grant.
